The English-language magazine Timeout surveyed more than 34,000 people for its list of the best cities in the world to visit. The study was conducted in partnership with the research firm Tapestry. Numerous criteria were taken into consideration, such as the cost of living, the degree of happiness of its inhabitants, the beauty of the city, its nightlife, and so on.

Among the 48 cities selected, Montréal is in 6th place, mainly because of its diversity, dynamism and creativity.
